Position Summary: The Controller provides leadership and oversight of the University Business Office in support of the University’s mission, vision, and core values. Areas of oversight include all accounting and business management functions of the University.
Oversight of all university business office and accounting functions.
Assist the CFO in the preparation and monitoring of the annual university operating budget.
Ensure all monthly, quarterly and annual fiscal closures are completed accurately and timely.
Ensure all applicable tax filings are completed and submitted accurately and timely.
Monitor daily cash flow and works with the CFO to provide cash flow projections.
Serve as point person for the year-end fiscal audit.
Prepare and submit financial reports to the CFO, University President, the Board of Trustees and to banks as scheduled and needed.
Maintain business relationships with banks, lenders and various vendors.
Manage the university’s credit card program and monitor compliance with the applicable credit card usage policy.
Maintain the authorized signers list and compliance with the university signature authorization policy.
Recommend and participate in the evaluation of university policies and procedures.
Supervise Business Office employees.
Other duties as needed.

Strong financial and accounting background with understanding of not-for-profit accounting and reporting.
Meticulous attention to detail, organized, with the ability to multi-task.
Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations and documentation.
Proficiency with computer software and a high comfort level working with Windows software applications.
Master’s degree in accounting or business-related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field required.
Working Relationships: The Director of Accounting is a member of the Business Office and reports to the Senior Vice President for Administration and Operations/CFO.

The campus was built on 300 acres donated by Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Holland. The first commencement took place in 1972 with four graduates. Warner’s third President, Dr. David A. Hoag, was inaugurated in the fall of 2016. He is preceded in leadership by only two others; Dr. Gregory V. Hall (1991–2016) and Dr. Leroy Fulton (1968–1991).
