DEPARTMENT: School of Education POSITION BEGINS: July 1, 2021 SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Revised April 2021
MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ.
RESPONSIBLITIES: Corban University seeks an educator who actively engages in the preparation of future teachers through strong instruction of learning theory, pedagogy, and equitable practices while also advancing the field of education through scholarship and service. Primary responsibly is teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Education Program pending expertise of the applicant. The successful candidate will be able to supervise teacher candidates in clinical field placements and practicum and must teach the subject matter in a manner that is consistent with the university’s Statement of Faith. Other department duties include academic advising, curriculum and program development, departmental accreditation work and university committee opportunities. Corban University faculty are expected to be active scholars, excellent teachers, active in service to the university and the community, and able to model the integration of faith and learning. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Education: PhD or EdD in Education OR related doctoral degree is preferred. Master’s degree is required. ESOL endorsement is preferred. Experience: Candidate must have experience as a licensed P-12 teacher for a minimum of three years full-time teaching and have a current Oregon Teaching or Administrator license OR be licensable. Areas of specialization pending expertise of the candidate include: general pedagogy for elementary and secondary education, clinical placement supervision, trauma informed content expertise, understanding of state and national accreditation practices, knowledge of local educational issues involving TSPC, REN, Collaborative School/University Partnerships and secondary ESOL content, endorsement and experience. The successful candidate should have strong teaching and leadership skills and have a demonstrated record of active participation in school community and professional organizations. Candidates should value an environment that reflects the diversity of God’s kingdom, engages in global concerns, and connects culturally. Evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the university’s mission as described in our Statement of Faith. Character: The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian faith, be in agreement with the University’s statement of faith, be committed to the integration of biblical principles within the discipline of education and be willing to invest him/herself in the development of undergraduate students. The education program places great value in collaboration and, therefore, desires candidates who have the same teamwork and collaborative values.
