Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Other, Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Program Administration
Gordon College is seeking an inaugural Program Director to launch and lead a new Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The Gordon College MPH program places emphasis on public health leadership, with a particular application to faith-based communities. The MPH program includes a core set of fundamental public health courses, a practicum series that provides real world exposure to the field and has two initial tracks: public health leadership and health policy and administration. The Gordon College MPH program intends to preserve a small student-to faculty ratio, allowing all students to develop relationships with faculty for a well-rounded mentoring experience. This will be a hybrid program with classes both online and in person.
Under the supervision of the Vice President for Academic Initiatives, the Director will be responsible for strategic planning and oversight of the MPH program, including the recruitment of students and faculty, development of a practicum program, assessing the curriculum, fostering key relationships with public health, faith-based and community organizations, establishing partnership agreements for practicums, and exploring and developing expansion opportunities.

Proposed Start Date
The position has an anticipated start date of August 2021, with competitive salary
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Positions Supervised: Part-time faculty, part-time/full-time staff within program as applicable.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
? Planning and Leadership
? Provide academic and operational leadership and management of the MPH
? Guide strategic planning for the MPH program that is aligned with the mission of
the program and College.
? Facilitate the process to attain accreditation with the Council on Education for
Public Health (CEPH)
? Administrative Duties:
? Recruit exemplary faculty members to teach in the various cohorts of the MPH
program – ensuring all new faculty complete the Gordon interview process.
? Provide expert curriculum management of new course and program development.
? Recruit and maintain frequent contact with prospective students.
? Maintain frequent contact with admitted students – ensuring their intent to
participate in the program.
? Maintain budget oversight of all cohorts.
? Mentor MPH faculty and recommend professional and career development as
? Conduct annual assessments of the program’s success.
? Teaching Expectations:
? Development of new courses.
? Formal instruction within the MPH, as needed.
? Participate in the instruction of selected MPH core and concentration courses
and/or electives based on expertise of the applicant.
? Supervise student practicum and internship experiences.
? Direct MPH student capstone projects.
? Advise MPH students.
? Professional Service and Outreach
? Provide leadership to the college through participation in faculty meetings and
? Provide professional service to the field (i.e., ASPPH, APHA, CEPH).

Required Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
• Must profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord; must accept Gordon’s Statement of Faith;

• Demonstrated commitment to an intentional Christian workplace and public health
practice in faith-based settings.
• Master’s degree in public health or a closely related field. Doctorate degree highly
• Minimum 3 years of full-time experience in higher education or equivalent public health
education experience, with knowledge of professional accreditation standards and their
• Significant experience in public health, including demonstrated leadership in the field at
the local, state, or national level.
• Knowledge and experience in the process of CEPH-accreditation of public health
• Demonstrated ability to develop work plans and timelines, communicate effectively, and
meet deadlines and produce deliverables in a timely manner.
• Ability to work in a team environment with academic faculty and public health and/or
• Engagement with national, regional, state and/or local partnerships that will enhance the
