Hope International University, a private Christian university in Fullerton, CA is seeking an experienced Sr. Financial Aid Counselor.
The Sr. Financial Aid Counselor will counsel students and parents about financial aid programs and provide general financial aid information to students and the community. The incumbent evaluates applications; packages need and merit-based aid; represents the University to students and parents at outreach activities and with public and private organizations and attends training workshops and conferences; keeps informed of changes to Financial Aid programs to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations as well as institutional policies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Counsel students and parents regarding:
General financial aid process and eligibility requirements for all aid types
Documentation and verification requirements (as needed)
Rights and responsibilities pertaining to student loan borrowing and debt
Fee schedule and payment options
Participate/conduct financial aid presentations during Preview Days
Verification of Financial Aid
Process and verification of federal, state, and institutional aid
Collect necessary documentation from student/parent
Perform verification for a title IV recipients as needed
Determine loan amounts and eligibility
Confirm enrollment and Satisfactory Academic Progress
Perform R2T4 as needed
Determine accounts that need holds placed due to balances due or incomplete paperwork
Prepare and complete Fee Schedules
Other duties as assigned
Minimum of five years of experience working in Financial Aid in higher education.
Knowledge and skills:
Federal regulations pertaining to the administration of Title IV aid, EDconnect, COD, NSLD, Pell Grants and Cal grants; Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Must have excellent writing skills, counseling techniques, experience in Award/Packaging, and Evaluation of Satisfactory Progress Standard. Familiarity with Campus Management software desired.
Must embody Christian character and be actively involved in a local church.
