CCCU institutions are located around the world. Though they are diverse in size, scope, and mission, they are each committed to faith-integrated higher education.
Faculty member will serve as the coordinator of Commercial Ensembles. This would include scheduling, organizing, assigning, performance planning, academic leadership of, and directing at least one commercial music ensemble. Faculty would be responsible for teaching up to twelve credit hours per semester.
Teaching Responsibility could include: Songwriting 1, Songwriting 2, Lyric Writing Lab, Production 1, Production 2, Mix Techniques, Catalog & Portfolio, Identity & Artistry, Jazz/Pop Theory, Commercial Theory, and/or other course(s) within the faculty member’s expertise area(s).
Service Responsibility includes: Recruitment to all School of Music degree programs. Departmental committee work may include undergraduate and graduate curriculum development, season and performance planning, attendance at School of Music faculty meetings and planning retreats. Faculty member will be assigned a number of advisees during his/her second semester.
Creative & Scholarly Activity includes: Continued creative and scholarly activity in his/her discipline. Could include publication, performance, off-campus conducting/composition/performance at the regional, national, and/or international level. Could include participation and involvement in appropriate discipline-specific professional music organizations and conferences. The School of Music supports faculty members in these endeavors. Active Professional affiliations.
Terminal degree in the primary teaching area is preferred. Graduate degree in appropriately related field (Music, Music Technology, Performance, Recording Arts, Songwriting, Music Business, Fine Arts, Entrepreneurship, MBA, etc.) and/or professional experience in the field also to be considered.
Minimum 3 years at university level preferred. Experience in an established and successful secondary education setting also considered.
The successful candidate should be highly organized, have an active and comprehensive knowledge of standard and commercial repertoire, as well as a commitment to the performance of various genres/styles. The successful candidate will have a knowledge of and interest in current performance practice, including the incorporation of cross-disciplinary, electronic, and/or multimedia elements.
Job Related Skills
Knowledge/skill in digital audio workstations. Strong skills in academia-related software applications (Google Suite, Canvas, D2L, distance learning platforms, Microsoft Office). Collegial and collaborative spirit. Ability to organize and follow-up. Dedication to student success.
