Spring Arbor University is seeking an individual with teaching experience to strengthen and continue to build our undergraduate Engineering program. The position will begin in January 2022.
POSITION DESCRIPTION The department of Engineering at Spring Arbor University (SAU) invites applicants for a tenure-track position in the field of Mechanical Engineering. SAU currently offers a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and will welcome our first Mechanical Engineering students in Fall 2021. The Mechanical Engineering program will seek ABET accreditation in 2025 after the first class graduates. Spring Arbor University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Teaching duties include primarily engineering courses but may initially include teaching in other departments depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate level, development of scholarly endeavors, innovative curriculum development, advising students, and serving on university committees.
QUALIFICATIONS Spring Arbor University is a community of learners distinguished by our lifelong involvement in the study and application of the liberal arts, total commitment to Jesus Christ as the perspective of learning, and critical participation in the contemporary world. The successful candidate will be able to articulate how they would integrate the Christian faith into their discipline and will be someone who enjoys working with students and other faculty. Individuals will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Statement of Faith and the Community Covenant.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. An earned Ph.D. is preferred. Professional experience in the field of mechanical engineering is also preferred, as is a successful record of teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about academic excellence and about preparing students to impact the world for Jesus Christ within the vocation of engineering.
SALARY and BENEFITS Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Spring Arbor University provides a significant benefit package, which includes medical and life insurance and contribution to a retirement program.
