Spring Arbor University is seeking an individual with experience in Graphic Design and Visual Arts to strengthen and continue to build our Graphic Design and Arts programs. The position will begin in August 2021.
POSITION DESCRIPTION The School of Communications, Media, and Fine Arts at Spring Arbor University (SAU) invites applicants for a tenure-track position in the field of Graphic Design and Visual Arts. Assigned courses will include undergraduate courses in Graphic Design and various other courses in Art and Media for which the candidate may be qualified. The successful candidate will have professional expertise in Graphic Design and Art and will have the ability to convey their passion and expertise to students. Responsibilities include teaching, development of scholarly endeavors (broadly defined), innovative curriculum development, mentoring students, contributing in collegial ways to build the department, and university service.
QUALIFICATIONS Spring Arbor University is a community of learners distinguished by our lifelong involvement in the study and application of the liberal arts, total commitment to Jesus Christ as the perspective of learning, and critical participation in the contemporary world. The successful candidate will be able to articulate how they would integrate the Christian faith into their discipline and will be someone who enjoys working with students and other faculty. Individuals will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Statement of Faith and the Community Covenant. Applicants must be thoroughly supportive of the University’s mission and values as an evangelical Christian University affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in Art or an art-related area, with significant experience in Graphic Design is required; terminal degree in a related area is preferred. Successful college teaching experience in a traditional campus environment is strongly preferred. Experience teaching online is a plus. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about academic excellence and about preparing students to impact the world for Jesus Christ within the vocations of Graphic Design and Visual Arts.
SALARY and BENEFITS Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Spring Arbor University provides a significant benefit package, which includes medical and life insurance and contribution to a retirement program.
