Accessibility and Learning Resources Coordinator

The Accessibility and Learning Resources Coordinator provides reasonable accommodations and support services for students with disabilities at all academic levels and locations of LBC | Capital and coordinates learning resources for students conditionally accepted to LBC and students on academic probation at the Lancaster campus.

Education and Experience:  

• A Master’s Degree in education, counseling, special education, psychology, social work, or related degree working with students with disabilities.
• Strong disability-related college level work experience of at least 3 years will be considered.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review psycho-educational and medical documentation to assess the needs of and provide reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities at all locations
  • conduct intake interviews
  • review documentation and determines students’ eligibility for services
  • determine and facilitate reasonable accommodations
  • maintain confidential records for students with disabilities (SWDs)
  • meet with applicants and parents to discuss services available to the SWD
  • assist as needed with exam accommodations and other duties assigned
  • manage data for formal grievances related to ADA and Office of Civil Rights
• Manage technological support
  • assign and arrange for appropriate assistive technology and alternate text formatted materials.
  • help to train students in use of appropriate assistive technology
• Collaborate with Associate Provost of Student Success to educate campus community on issues that impact students with disabilities.
  • inform faculty of their legal responsibilities under the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • collaborate with faculty regarding implementation of appropriate accommodations
  • collaborate with the Registrar, Student Services Office, Physical Plant, Campus Safety, faculty and staff regarding access to all facilities, classrooms, programs and campus grounds
  • present in-service faculty/staff workshops and presentations
• Provide immediate assistance to students with temporary mobility, physical, or cognitive injuries.
  • coordinate with Student Life, Health Services, Athletics, and/or faculty to provide students with reasonable temporary accommodations.
• Coach students with disabilities
  • meet with students and monitor academic progress
  • advise the academic mentors to support the DSO initiatives
  • provide academic, transition-to-college, and pre-registration counseling to all SWD’s
  • refer students to other services as appropriate
• Work with English Language Learners to determine appropriate academic supports and services.
• Coach incoming students with conditional acceptance and students returning on academic probation
  • meet with students and monitor academic progress
  • provide academic, transition-to-college advising
  • refer students to other services as appropriate
• Oversee the Academic Mentoring Program and evaluate its use and effectiveness
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes productive personal study time
  • Develop and lead academic success workshops
  • Develop and maintain learning resources
• Advise AMS student workers as part of a team approach
  • Assist with the hiring and training of new student workers
  • Assist with the ongoing mentor training program
  • Advise academic mentors on student interventions
• Work as a team within the Ally Center
  • Assist with Proctoring and tutoring as needed
  • Promote Ally Center to visitors
• Serve on the ADA Council, Academic Appeals Committee, and Students of Concern Committee
• Maintain confidential files for students
• Compile and report data for Institutional Effectiveness and accreditation purposes
• Maintain current operating manuals
• Performs other related duties as assigned
