John Brown University
John Brown University, private, evangelical and Christian, seeks a full-time faculty member in Visual Arts to begin July 1, 2021. This position will include coursework in Graphic Design. Primary teaching responsibilities include design, UX design, web design and development, design history, and computer graphics. Secondary fields might include courses in illustration, photography, and cinema depending on the candidates’ skills, academic, and professional background. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to academic advising of students, participation in departmental responsibilities, growth as an artist including regular work on personal projects, exhibitions and competitions, program support, and committee service. The Department of Visual Arts resides within the College of Bible, Humanities and Arts offers courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, Art & Illustration, Photography, and Digital Cinema. The department has nine faculty members, over 200 students, three buildings, and hundreds of graduates employed in professional positions across the globe.

An MFA degree in the visual arts is preferred. Professional design experience and portfolio, effective teaching experience in higher education, evidence of scholarly potential, and a commitment to Christian higher education are essential. Candidates are preferred who have significant and successful teaching experience at the college level as demonstrated by student achievement and references given. Candidates having prior teaching and significant professional experience including a professional resume but who have not yet completed their graduate work will be considered.
