College Description
The College of Education serves both graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of delivery models. Graduate programs include the following: three MED degrees - MED Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation; MED Educational Leadership, Building Administrator; MED Exceptional Child; five EDS degrees - EDS Building Administrator; EDS Director of Special Education; EDS Superintendent; EDS Organizational Leadership; EDS Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation, and two doctoral degrees - PHD in Educational Leadership; EDD in Educational Leadership. Undergraduate degrees within the college result in instructional certification in a variety of endorsement areas across elementary and secondary teaching requirements.  All educator preparation programs for teachers and administrators in the College of Education are fully approved by the State of Idaho, and maintain voluntary national accreditation through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Graduate and undergraduate education programs have strong working relationships with school districts in the region, statewide educational organizations, and the Idaho State Department of Education, which is located in Boise. We are a group of faculty committed to maintaining and expanding the diversity of our student body and faculty. We are leading innovation in the state in our teacher preparation programs through the integration of technology and implementation of directed clinical experiences for our candidates. Description of Position

Northwest Nazarene University, Department of Graduate Education is seeking to fill a full-time (10-month) tenure track position (rank dependent upon experience) as Faculty in the Department of Graduate Education and serve as Program Director for the Educational Leadership program at the University.   • Program Director of the Educational Leadership program (MEd & EdS)
  • Teaching online, graduate-level courses
  • Developing new courses as required
  • Advising and recruiting graduate students
  • Engaging in research and scholarly endeavors, including grant writing
  • Collaborating with colleagues in local schools, agencies, and the university as appropriate
  • Chairing and/or serving on doctoral committees
  • Providing meaningful service to the community and to the profession
  • Collaborating with Graduate Admissions in effective marketing strategy and personal interaction with prospective students
  • Keeping current with the certification requirements for the Administrator Certificate in the State of Idaho and surrounding states, and the corresponding endorsement area requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 school setting, specifically working in an administrative position
  • Successful teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience in the online learning environment
  • Ability to work in a team and to work independently to achieve department and program goals
  • Christian perspective and agreement with the stated mission and lifestyle values of NNU

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in the area of Educational Leadership or a closely related discipline
  • Interest in conducting scholarly research
  • Experience in educational leadership at the building and district levels
  • Certification in Administration for Principal and Superintendent
  • Experience developing and teaching courses in both face-to-face and online environments
