Faculty Careers - Biology/Life Sciences, Faculty Careers - Other
Continuing non-tenure track position in Biology to start September 1, 2021. The position is a full-time, nine-month appointment. We are seeking candidates who have experience mentoring students in the Professional Health Sciences to direct our comprehensive, curricular-driven Pre-Professional Health Sciences Program. The optimal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in mentoring students to careers in the health sciences, including, but not limited to, medicine, dentistry, physical therapy and physician assistants. SPU is a Christian university, and applicants will be required to submit a faith statement with their application. Members of historically underrepresented groups, as defined by the National Science Foundation, are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be able to teach in at least two of the following areas: Neurobiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, or Bioethics.
Primary teaching responsibilities will include coursework pertinent to the Professional Health Sciences Program.
Candidates should show evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates, as well as a readiness to represent the university at national pre-health sciences conferences.
Evidence of the ability to advise and mentor underrepresented, and first-generation students is required.
A doctoral degree, such as a PhD or MD, is required by the start date.
