Summary: The Warren Library, of Palm Beach Atlantic University, invites well-qualified applicants to join its team of Librarians in the position of Associate Librarian. The position serves the library needs of students and faculty, and duties primarily include teaching information literacy sessions, providing reference services, and leading research consultations. Other responsibilities include collection development and liaison to academic areas. Evening and weekend rotation is required as part of the regular work schedule.
Education/Experience: A graduate degree in library science from an ALA - Accredited institution is required. An additional advanced degree within a discipline of the university's academic program is preferred. Previous experience in an academic library is required.
Qualifications: Proficiency in the research skills required in academically rigorous and technologically sophisticated libraries is essential. The successful candidate must have the oral, written, and interpersonal skills required to be effective in a demanding team based organization.
Applicants must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate Christian faith with day-to-day performance.
The Warren Library: Since the founding of Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1968, the mission of the library has been to be “the central learning space for the Palm Beach Atlantic community. The current library was dedicated on January 26, 2007. It is a wonderful space filled with Florida sunshine that draws students to the books, publications, technology, and one another. While there are places for solitary study, the overall atmosphere of the Warren Library encourages conversation and collaboration. The comfortable three-story, 86,000-square-foot facility provides Wi-Fi access throughout and houses more than 220,000 volumes (print and online), 130 computers, seating for 647, and 28 study rooms. The Warren Library at Palm Beach Atlantic University also houses the senatorial papers and archives of Sen. George LeMieux.
