Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Information Systems/Technology
Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of topics in computer science as well as cyber security. This position is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and reports to the Chair of the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics. The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in computer science or a related field, although applicants who hold a Master’s degree and have significant academic and/or professional experience might also be considered. This position will also act as the program director for the current Cyber Security Program. This position will be instrumental in developing a program in Computer Science. This position will then transition into being the program director for the Computer Science Program and Cyber Security Program.

Expectations & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach classes in computer science and cyber security. Classes will be assigned based on the faculty member’s academic and professional qualifications in accordance with accreditation standards.
Additional duties include:
Collaboration with university departments including enrollment, recruiting, and marketing
Participation in recruitment of prospective students
University committee assignments
Networking and outreach
Effective use of instructional technology
Assessment and accreditation duties
Supervision of adjunct faculty
Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will hold, at a minimum, a Master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field and will have significant academic and/or professional experience.
The university prefers to hire a candidate who holds a doctoral degree in computer science or a closely related field. Preference will be given to individuals academically or professionally qualified to teach courses in cyber security as well as computer science.
Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
