The Department of Mathematics at Belhaven University - a Christian university committed to the ministry of integrating biblical truth and learning – is seeking a candidate for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position in mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics at Belhaven University is committed to realizing the university mission to prepare students to serve Christ in their careers. The department is built upon the pillars of mathematics, technology, and community and values strong partnerships within the community that connects students with career and calling and broadening their horizons. We are members of the Mathematical Association of America and Association of Christians in Mathematical Services and encourage students to engage in professional development such as applying for internships, attending conferences, interacting with professionals, and going on site visits.
Additionally, the Department of Mathematics has partnerships with the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University in a 3-2 engineering program. Students may finish the five-year program with a degree in Mathematics from Belhaven University and a degree in engineering from the chosen partner school.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include: teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate mathematics courses with flexibility in course assignments; advising undergraduate mathematics majors and minors, actuarial science majors, and mathematics majors participating in Belhaven University’s engineering partnership with the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University; participate in department curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment, and fostering career development in students.
Qualifications The position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. The position is open to all areas of scholarly interest, but special consideration will be given to candidates with a background in statistics and data science who may engage undergraduate students in research projects.

Compensation Compensation and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University supplements major medical insurance and sponsors a retirement fund. A confidential review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
