The Director of Financial Aid is primarily responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the Financial Aid Office which includes recommending policy, scholarship leveraging, and program evaluation that is pursuant to the Seminary’s vision and mission.
The Financial Aid Office is comprised of the following areas:
Federal Programs and Internal Scholarships
Student Employment (Federal and Institutional)
Auditing and Quality Assurance
Scholarships, Packaging, and Authorization
The Director of Financial Aid:
Oversees all Financial Aid functions.
Acts on behalf of the Financial Aid Committees to recommend and award scholarships.
Supervises the Financial Aid Staff.
Analyzes Financial Aid-related data as part of a strategic enrollment management process.
Assesses Financial Aid activities to determine overall effectiveness and efficiencies.
Travels as required.
Maintains a thorough and current understanding of federal regulations as applicable to Financial Aid.
Evidence creativity and innovation in implementing a Financial Aid system that embraces all aspects of enrollment management.
Upload and download to COD and other outside systems
Conduct staff development and training
Monitor letters and electronic announcements for applicable changes in laws/regulations/procedures
Oversee Financial Aid web pages
Code student checks and acquires necessary signatures
Counsel students and prospective students with accurate and current information about Financial Aid issues
Coordinate yearly updates of the Policy and Procedure Manual
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services
Key Performance Indicators:
Develops and maintains a system of periodic communication with every student that provides both general and personalized information.
Works in collaboration with Admissions, Registrar, and Student Services as part of the Enrollment Management Team.
Encourages and maintains a service-oriented ethos amongst the Financial Aid Staff.
Direct Supervision & Project/Team Leadership or Training:
The following employees report to the Director of Financial Aid: Associate Director of Financial Aid, Financial Aid Coordinators, and Work-Study Employees.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Five or more years of experience in financial aid or closely related field; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources.
Demonstrated record of achievement in implementing successful programs at a higher educational institution.
A supervisory experience that is relevant to the Financial Aid department.
Experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to facilitate organizational development and change
