Faculty Careers - Engineering, Faculty Careers - Other
Assistant/Associate/Professor of Engineering in general engineering program with concentrations in civil or computing (level commensurate with experience). The position requires academic excellence in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service with emphasis on teaching. Bryan College currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with concentrations including civil, mechanical, biological, computing, business management, environmental, and chemistry. The Vogel School of Engineering opened in the fall of 2018 and currently has approximately 50 students. Enrollment is projected to continue to increase yearly as the program develops. State-of-the-art classroom and laboratory facilities have recently been constructed.
Most importantly, the new faculty will share and promote a Christian worldview consistent with the Bryan College Statement of Belief and Community Life Standards. In particular, the ideal candidate will share and promote the Vogel School of Engineering Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Vogel School of Engineering at Bryan College is to equip engineering students with the knowledge, skills and biblical worldview necessary to impact the marketplace for Christ.
An earned graduate degree [doctorate preferred] in Engineering (civil or computing)
Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
S. citizenship or permanent authorization to work in the United States
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in a team environment to formulate and implement policies and procedures for the Vogel School of Engineering informed by a Christian perspective.
Developing and teaching courses and laboratory modules relating to general engineering classes, as well as civil engineering or computing concentration classes as needed.
Work with the lab manager to share in administration and oversight duties of laboratory and maker-space facilities including specification, purchasing and O&M of equipment, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, and developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to the safe use of the laboratory and maker-space facilities.
Serving as faculty advisor for student clubs.
Participation in the development of departmental budget for equipment and supplies.
Serving as a spiritual mentor and advising students academically and professionally.
Accreditation activities including identifying and implementing SACS and ABET requirements.
Develop industrial partners in curriculum development, sponsored, projects, and student internships/placement.
Recruitment of students.
Serving as Vogel School of Engineering representative in the community.
Serve on committees.
Other duties as required.
