Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Development/Fundraising
• The Executive Director for Advancement position is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive private and public sector fund-raising program on behalf of the University and to enhance the mission and vision established by the President and Board of Trustees DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES (Any one position may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions within this classification) • Identify, define and acquire funding resources available to the University • Design and implementation of a comprehensive advancement / development program and appropriate marketing strategies • Design and implement and / or maintain a structured fund-raising program as an aspect of the University’s overall program and as economic resource development • Work collaboratively with staff members to identify avenues of economic support for programs / projects • Aggressively seeks new corporate / foundation funding sources and maintains relationships with current / past donors. Represents University in meeting with potential funding sources • Maintains ongoing contact with the University’s staff regarding programs and plans • Examines ways of packaging and marketing these programs to philanthropic supporters • Maintains knowledge about the external environment as it relates to higher education • Reports directly to the President • Works with the Advancement Committee of the University Board of Trustees and effectively plans for the bi-annual Board of Trustees meetings • Member of President’s Cabinet and President’s Council
REQUIREDMINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS According to Ohio Christian University employment policy, all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement. • Education, Training and Experience: o Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, business administration or related field o Master’s degree preferred in planning, finance, or management o Ten years of related experience, including knowledge of annual giving, foundation / corporate solicitations, communications and special events o Communication Proficiency o Financial Management o Initiative o Personal Effectiveness / Credibility o Results Driven o Stress Management/Composure o Performance Management • Skill and Ability to: o Highly developed interpersonal skills. Ability to meet people with ease o Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines o Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques o Knowledge of long-range planning processes • Additional Qualifications: o This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines o The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
