Leadership in building meaningful relationships to provide and support of a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Southern Nazarene University. Proactive safety & security against unlawful activities on SNU’s main campus or off-campus locations. Provide knowledge and experience from safety and security standpoint in collaboration with other university departments.
Provide leadership to manage and supervise the actions and processes within the SNU Safety and Security Department.
Hire/staff, train, and provide direction and oversight for day to day duties of security and dispatch personnel that can include full-time staff, part-time staff, as well as student workers.
Establish work schedules and hours for security and dispatch staff.
Assist in the development of and manage the implementation of processes and procedures related to security, safety, emergency preparedness, and information reporting related to events, crimes, compliance issues, and other scenarios, as necessary.
Communicate and coordinate with campus officials, local law enforcement, fire and medical agencies, etc. during severe weather, safety related emergencies, and/or other situations
Understand, comply with, and help enforce requirements of federal, state, and local laws, as well as SNU policies, procedures, and directives
Investigate on-campus crimes in conjunction with local law enforcement or independently as necessary
Manage coordination with law enforcement agencies for support and proper information in a timely manner regarding calls received and violation of laws on campus.
Oversee the management and coordination of the campus-wide video surveillance system, infrastructure, and information.
Coordinate staffing and provide support for parking and crowd management at major events on campus or off campus facilities
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

An understanding of the importance for diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Law enforcement experience with a certified police department or Military Police duties; current or ending status to be one of good standing with that department or branch of service.
Personal health and fitness level that will allow for significant time periods of walking, standing, running, and/or stair climbing, lifting or moving moderately weighted items, and possible physical contact with other individuals as it would relate to security or law enforcement duties
Proven leadership and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
Good written or oral communication abilities as they pertain interpersonal relationships as well as providing directives to others, incident and crime reporting, etc.
Proficiency with technology that could be related to email, word processing, utilizing video surveillance systems, processing parking violations and citations, etc.
Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor.
Primary supervision of all Safety & Security staff and student workers.
Full time, minimum 40+ hours per week
Primarily working Monday through Friday 8 AM – 5 PM, but availability necessary for on-call times, special events, holidays, or extra coverages as needed.
