The Southern Wesleyan University College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the position of Coordinator of the D. Clifton Wood Master of Science (MSc) in Counseling Psychology program as an Associate Professor of Psychology. This is a 12-month tenure-track position within the Division of Social Sciences to begin as early as October 2020. This position is located on campus in Central, SC. This position reports to the Chair of the Division of Social Sciences. The entry level rank of the candidate will be determined by terminal degree, qualifications, and experience. The university is actively seeking to increase the number of women and minorities within its faculty and are strongly encouraged to apply.
Serve as graduate program coordinator for the nascent online MSc in Counseling Psychology program.
Lead the MPCAC/CACREP accreditation process.
Participate in and coordinate curriculum development for the counseling psychology program.
Teach classes in the graduate Counseling Psychology program. Courses may include Professional Orientation & Practice, Human Growth and Development, Counseling Foundations & The Helping Relationship, Group Dynamics & Processes, Psychopathology, Psychodiagnostics, Spirituality & Counseling. SWU graduate faculty carry a 9-hour/semester load: Two (2), three (3) credit-hour courses during both Fall and Spring semester; and two (2), three (3) credit-hour courses during the Summer semester. with course load reductions for administrative responsibilities.
Direct supervision of graduate practicum students and internship students
Engage in program development, student learning outcomes assessment, student recruitment, and advising in the counseling psychology program.
Demonstrate servant-leadership by engaging in service activities within the university and the larger community.
Serve on university committees and be actively engaged with the university community.
An earned PhD in an appropriate field (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education) is required.
Experience in or a desire to integrate Christian faith with the teaching and practice of the academic discipline is essential.
Experience in graduate counseling psychology program coordination or leadership is essential.
Graduate counseling student supervision experience is essential.
Eligibility for licensure in the state of South Carolina is preferred.
Research experience related to counseling or experience in the implementation of evidence-based practices in counseling is preferred.
