The new Dean of Ida Moffett School of Nursing will be key to helping the institution deliver on our commitment to student, faculty, and staff success. We seek a healthcare professional who can champion academic excellence while looking for new opportunities that play to the strengths of the School and the University as a whole.
Ida Moffett School of Nursing is committed to achieving excellence through teaching, scholarship, learning and inclusion. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School, and provides academic, intellectual, and administrative leadership to the School. The Dean sets and articulates the vision for the School within Ida Moffett School of Nursing's mission and goals, creates new opportunities for the School and the University, and directs its growth and development through shared academic governance. The new Dean will work with faculty and staff to articulate a vision of excellence for a range of programs including the BSN, MSN and DNP programs. The next Dean will lead the faculty and staff to create a strategic vision for the school in light of changing curriculum requirements that will lead to the development of both undergraduate and graduate programs while maximizing internal and external collaboration across the university.
Ida Moffett School of Nursing
Originally established as a hospital-based diploma program, the school was renamed the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing in 1968 and became the first program in Alabama to achieve accreditation by the National League for Nursing. For more than 95 years, Ida Moffett School of Nursing has continued Mrs. Moffett's legacy by instilling her unique vision and passion in those called to the nursing profession. Today, more than 7,000 Moffett nurses are impacting the lives of others throughout the United States and around the world.
