Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Counseling, Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Student Affairs/Student services
Provides direction, management and supervision of the university’s student counseling services. Provides and oversees professional counseling services to students within the scope and parameters of (a) licensure, (b) UMHB Counseling Center’s programs, protocols, and therapeutic modalities/techniques, (c) applicable laws and regulations and (d) university policy & procedures, for both UMHB graduate and undergraduate students. Oversees and participates in after hours and on-call services. Provides programs to educate UMHB students in areas related to health and well-being. Serves as a member of the Student Threat Assessment Team. Facilitates crisis cases, concerns about risk management, and student situations of high criticality and/or sensitivity. Effectively manages and supervises assigned staff, clinical operations (e.g., staff caseload, referral processes, clinical records, etc.), budget, and related administrative tasks.
1. A Master’s degree in Counseling or a related field is required. A doctoral degree is preferred. 2. A current and valid Texas licensure as LPC. LPC-S is strongly preferred. 3. A minimum of five (5) years’ full-time employment experience as a licensed counselor is required. Strongly prefer candidates with significant experience working with college-age client populations. 4. A minimum of five (5) years’ administrative and staff supervisory experience within a clinical setting is required. Strongly prefer experience in a higher education setting. 5. Experience working with a diverse client population is required. 6. Competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required. 7. Strongly prefer experience with automated client records management systems. 8. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required. 9. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
