The Division of Art + Design at Indiana Wesleyan University-Marion is seeking applications from qualified individuals to apply for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Illustration. Successful candidates will show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort with the Wesleyan perspective, and a commitment to liberal learning as well as a fully integrated life of faith and work, embracing God’s purpose individually and collaboratively. Applicants who bring diverse ethnic, racial, and gender perspectives to their scholarship and teaching are especially encouraged to apply.
The IWU Division of Art+ Design comprises of 8 full-time faculty members, 12 part-time faculty members and nearly 200 students. We are currently one of the largest art programs in the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), offering majors in Illustration, Studio Art, Design, Photography, Pre-Art Therapy and Visual Arts Education.
Start date will be fall 2020
Candidates must have an MFA or equivalent terminal degree in illustration or a related field.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The division seeks an experienced educator and practitioner to lead a thriving illustration program. The full-time teaching load for Art + Design faculty is 3-4 courses per semester, with course assignments based on experience and divisional need. The successful candidate will provide the instructional guidance necessary to support a rigorous curriculum that combines traditional and digital modalities to prepare students for an ever-evolving marketplace. Full-time faculty are expected to maintain an active professional practice, advise students and serve on divisional, college, and university committees, demonstrate a commitment to the integration of faith and learning, and engage with the local community.

Demonstrated record of professional practice
Demonstrated record of (or potential for) effective college-level teaching
Expertise in traditional and digital illustration
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites and tablet-based technology
Experience with instructional technology
Strong communication and administrative skills
Competency in the fields of Design and Photography
