This individual will teach in the area of mental health and communication in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. However, this individual’s primary responsibility will be the development and management of the mental health nurse practitioner courses in the School of Nursing graduate program. This individual will serve as the advisor for students seeking certification as a mental health nurse practitioner, oversee their end-of-program residency, and teach within the nurse practitioner track.
Nurse practitioner certified as a mental health nurse practitioner across the life span.
Current license as both a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse in the state of Illinois
Doctoral preparation preferred
Teaching experience in higher education
Strong interpersonal skills
Providing leadership that is congruent with North Park University and School of Nursing and Health Sciences mission and vision statements.
Assuming the leadership role for the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track and tracking student outcomes.
Ensuring that the mental health nurse practitioner program’s curriculum aligns with national curriculum guidelines and accreditation standards such as the Criteria for Evaluation of Nurse Practitioner Program (NTF).
Participating in student activities, such as advising, and offering input on admission and progression issues.
Organizing the practicum planning process.
Providing oversight of preceptorship issues in the mental health nurse practitioner track, such as selection and evaluation of preceptors and sites.
Participating in the integration of data sources that provide outcomes for accreditation and resource allocation.
Participating in the Nurse Practitioner Task Force.
