DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL EDUCATION (DCE) PHYSICAL THERAPY DOCTORAL PROGRAM FULL-TIME, 12 MONTHS NON-TENURE (TRACK II)
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is a Whitworth University (WU) faculty member with an appointment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Reporting to the DPT Program Director, the DCE will hold a 12-month appointment with administrative, academic, service and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the DPT program and WU, as well as accreditation standards set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Strong candidates should have experience in clinical education, multi-site clinical coordination, and clinical administration. Experience in teaching and curriculum development is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Obtains and maintains a sufficient number of clinical contracts with a variety of health care settings to provide adequate selection of clinical slots for every part-time and full-time clinical course required by DPT students.
Communicates directly with students to establish high quality clinical rotations and integrated curricular experiences.
Establishes, communicates, and enforces DPT clinical policies and procedures.
Collaborates with clinical faculty to evaluate student performance and assigns grades for all clinical education courses.
Assists with recruitment of highly qualified DPT students who represent diverse populations.
Manages fiscal resources associated with the clinical education program, under the supervision of the PT Program Director.
Guides curriculum design, planning, scheduling, and outcome measures related to the clinical education component that promote reflective reasoning, evidence-based practice, and ethical excellence.
Guides strategic planning related to clinical education.
Teaches or co-teaches didactic courses related to his/her areas of expertise.
Establishes and implements a personal scholarly agenda.
Promotes and supports faculty and staff professional development, especially as it relates to clinical education.
Serves on assigned committees and participates in university governance.
Promotes departmental involvement and service within the community.
Supports and helps plan collaborative and inter-professional education and service activities among faculty and students within the university and local community.

REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Evidence of advanced credentials or expertise in an area of physical therapy practice is preferred

A physical therapists, licensed (or eligible) to practice physical therapy in the State of Washington
Minimum of 3 years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) OR Clinical Instructor (CI) for DPT students OR 2 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in physical therapist education program.
