The Malone University Athletic Department, which sponsors 17 intercollegiate sports, is conducting a search for a full-time Director of Athletics. As a key leader, the primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership to athletic, club and intramural sports programs at a Christ-centered, NCAA Division II, master’s comprehensive university. An important function of the athletic program is to enhance the academic and social development of student-athletes. The Director of Athletics reports directly to the Provost.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must exhibit a personal understanding of, and operate in concert with, the Mission statement and Foundational Principles of the University. A master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree is required. Five to ten years of progressive experience in athletic program administration is essential. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills that foster collaboration and effective teamwork are essential. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets, excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability in problem solving are essential.
Applicants should have: ? Significant experience (at least five years) in a senior-level athletic leadership position. ? Experience in higher education. ? A proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. ? Leadership and supervisory skills that foster collaboration and effective teamwork. ? Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and prioritize commitments. ? Knowledge of NCAA and conference regulations. ? Ability to exercise sound professional decision-making, maintain integrity, and work with other institutional leaders. ? Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials.
