Reporting to the Provost, and collaborating with the Associate Provost and other department chairs, the Education Chair manages and oversees the department of education within the context of university functions, fosters excellence in teaching and learning, provides program development and accreditation expertise by monitoring and facilitating assessment and accreditation requirements and processes.
Responsibilities: The Chair will function as an academic administrator with the following primary responsibilities:
Provide leadership for the department and its curricular and co-curricular offerings
Manage department operations, including budgets, course schedules, and teaching loads
Recruit and retain qualified faculty (full-time and adjunct)
As unit head, coordinate accreditation and licensure activities so that Malone programs remain compliant with Ohio Department of Higher Education, Ohio Department of Education, and CAEP requirements
Facilitate relationships with local school districts and with members of the Malone Education Advisory Board
Teach one course per year in his/her area of expertise.
Must have an earned terminal degree in an appropriate discipline and ability to garner the respect of peers
Must be a Christian able to affirm Malone’s doctrinal statement and community agreement,
Experiences in leadership and accreditation in a higher education context
Teaching experience in higher education and/or P-12 education
Attention to detail balanced by an innovative spirit and ability to promote engagement and collaborative problem solving.
