CCCU institutions are located around the world. Though they are diverse in size, scope, and mission, they are each committed to faith-integrated higher education.
Founded in 1905, McCallie is a premier, independent boarding-day school serving over 900 boys. McCallie seeks a dynamic, innovative, student-centered instructor of chemistry.
McCallie has recently opened its new $15 million, 40,000 square foot science building with state of the art technology, science labs, and research spaces, including a tissue culture lab, innovation maker-space, and engineering lab. The teacher will join a dozen other science faculty and instruct five sections. Labs should be integrated into sections. The teacher will also be involved in the school's extensive afternoon activity program supporting science research, advising one of the many extracurricular activities, or coaching at the junior varsity or varsity level of a sport. There may be other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
passion for and experience in helping students uncover real-world connections to chemistry;
willingness to work cooperatively within a strong department, on grade level teams, and along vertical course sequences;
ability to push student discovery and experiential learning within the structure of an AP framework;
a deep understanding of McCallie’s mission - including both its commitment to character development and the ideals of honor, truth, and duty and its Christian foundation and Judeo-Christian heritage - and have a desire to live out and serve that mission for the good of McCallie boys.
Applicants should possess:
Extensive experience teaching chemistry;
Degree in chemistry or secondary school science education.
Additional qualifications or characteristics desired, but not required, include:
Master’s degree or higher in chemistry or secondary school science education;
experience working in or with aspects of science industry, especially those related to chemistry.
