Point Loma Nazarene University Department of Art & Design is seeking a candidate for full-time tenure-track teaching position beginning August 2020. The compensation level depends upon the education and experience of the appointee. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until both positions are filled.
Point Loma Nazarene University Department of Art & Design invites candidates with an expertise in Interactive Design and New Media. They must apply knowledge of teaching pedagogy, history, theory, and criticism for interactive web/app design (UX, UI), motion graphics, sound design, video, and time-based media courses.
Fluency in additional fields of practice are welcome, including: Painting and Drawing, Art History and Criticism, and/or Printmaking. The ideal candidate will be well versed in traditional methods as well as contemporary practices in Art and Design.
Teach within a dynamic department that encourages cross-disciplinary practice between visual art and design (24 units a year)
Conduct scholarly research
Mentor undergraduate students
Contribute to curriculum development in area(s) of teaching experience and expertise
Advise and mentor students
Participate in departmental activities and governance
Serve on faculty committees and actively participate in university activities
Off-campus community engagement
MFA or PhD required
Strong evidence of Exhibition, Research and/or Professional Practice
Teaching experience preferred
Collegial demeanor and desire to work as a team
