The Physician Assistant Department at Point Loma Nazarene University invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position as Director of Didactic Education (DDE) beginning in the Spring of 2020. The Director of Didactic Education serves as a full-time with rank appropriate to the applicant’s experience. Point Loma Nazarene University’s Physician Assistant Program is a developing program with the projected start date of Fall 2021
The Director of Didactic Education will perform tasks as a principal faculty member as well as will work alongside the Program Director to provide exceptional leadership and academic instruction to the faculty and staff in the clinical curriculum of the program. The position will have one day of release time to support involvement in clinical practice or scholarship.
Supporting the PA Program Director in insuring the curriculum meets current practice standards
Assisting with program and curriculum design, development, implementation, coordination, maintenance, review, assessment, and revision
Participating in the assessment and governance of the Department of PA Education
Actively involved with review of the PA program mission and vision statements, goals, and outcomes
Participating in the accreditation process as assigned by the department chair
Teaching in the didactic and clinical phases of the program in areas of expertise
Assisting with grading of patient assessment and clinical skills OSCEs, and other grading as necessary
Supervising the reporting of curriculum and course student data, test and measures, and summative assessment
Developing, coordinating, and assessing the academic schedule and curriculum
Procuring instructional faculty to instruct in the modular curriculum
Overseeing academic faculty in the development and delivery of objective-driven lectures and courses
Managing the Pre-Clinical Comprehensive Evaluation
Advising students and maintaining secure student records
Development and implementation of remediation plans and early intervention plans of action
Maintaining and updating the student handbook
Participating in the continuous program assessment process to include discussions and actions related to program compliance with accreditation standards
Participating in other aspects of program management as directed by the Program Director
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in California
Master’s degree required – doctorate preferred
