Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in the College of Education
College of Education
North Greenville University’s College of Education seeks an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs. Position will be opened until filled.
The associate dean provides administrative leadership to the undergraduate programs of the College of Education and assists in implementing the university’s vision for that college. The associate dean supervises and supports the work of the department chairs and program coordinators/directors in the college, and serves as a resource to faculty members who teach courses in the college’s programs. The associate dean may also serve as the chair of his/her home department. The associate dean reports to the dean of the College of Education.
This is a twelve-month faculty appointment. The associate dean will receive an annual course release of 6 hours, as well as an administrative stipend. If the associate dean also serves as chair of his/her home department, there will be additional release time. Courses may be taught on campus, online or in a hybrid format. Additional hours may be taught by separate agreement, though this position should have limited opportunities for additional load due to leadership responsibilities.
The associate dean must have a terminal degree in an area of education from a regionally accredited university, a minimum of 7 years teaching and leadership experience in K-12 settings is required, along with an ability to mentor teacher candidates in K-12 settings. He/she should also have leadership experience at the college or university level. The associate dean must hold the rank of assistant professor or higher and maintain active membership in a Christian church that complies in its ethical commitments to university community standards.
Serve on the dean’s leadership team for the College of Education
Supervise chairs and undergraduate program directors in the college
Advise the dean, provost, and associate provost for undergraduate studies on challenges and opportunities related to education
Assist the dean with strategic planning and continuous improvement
Assist the dean in developing a thriving learning community within the College of Education. New initiatives may be undertaken to foster the integration of faith and learning, encourage scholarship, and promote service to the profession, the community, and the Church.
Assist the dean by leading the college in the exploration of opportunities related to new academic programs, new delivery methods, and the redesign of current programs and processes
Assist department chairs and program directors with curriculum change submissions, including course/program proposals and revisions, in consultation with appropriate staff in the Office of Academic Affairs
Coordinate course scheduling for all undergraduate programs in the College of Education
Coordinate periodic program review for all departments and programs within the college
Support the assessment coordinator, department chairs, and dean in coordinating annual Institutional Effectiveness reports for undergraduate programs offered within the college and the annual assessment of these academic programs
Work with the assessment coordinator, department chairs, and the dean to maintain accreditation standards in the college with CAEP and the State
Meet with chairs to discuss the latter’s annual reviews with each of the faculty members in their respective departments
Work with the dean and chairs to conduct faculty searches and recruit quality full-time and part-time faculty members for the college
Assist the dean and chairs with onboarding new faculty in the college
Assist the dean and chairs with faculty development, in partnership with other relevant units at the university (e.g. Center for Faculty Excellence, the E-Learning Center)
Church and Community Engagement
Participate in appropriate professional, community, and church service activities
Represent the university in education and other community events when requested by the dean
Assist the dean in cultivating relationships with area schools, universities, and educational leaders who can serve as advisors and champions of NGU’s College of Education programs
Assist the dean in organizing or sponsoring professional development opportunities for the College of Education
Perform other duties as assigned by the dean
