The Lee University School of Music invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position starting August 2020. We seek a dynamic classroom teacher with practical experience in the music industry who is committed to mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Preference will be given to applicants with a terminal degree or equivalent professional experience in music business, music technology, or related fields. Though applicants with advanced degrees in other areas will be considered, the successful candidate must demonstrate the following: significant entrepreneurial experience in the music industry, understanding of current trends in music business, potential to recruit talented students, and the ability to communicate effectively with students and peers. The ideal candidate will also articulate viable strategies to prepare students for careers both inside and outside the Christian marketplace, maintain a creative or scholarly portfolio, and show potential to provide leadership in the discipline.
The appointee will be assigned to teach courses in music business and/or cognate areas, depending on qualifications and experience. The position also includes advising students and other professional service to the institution. Reporting to the Dean, the appointee will be expected to actively participate in the process of setting and achieving the goals of the music unit, working cooperatively with colleagues to realize the mission of the university.
