Though it began as a two-year institute, today Life Pacific University is a four-year regionally and nationally accredited Bible college affiliated with The Foursquare Church and committed to an enduring Pentecostal mission. Life Pacific University is located in Los Angeles county in sunny Southern California near the intersection of the I–210 and I–57 freeways. San Dimas is an equestrian town of 36,000, nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. The college is conveniently located 45 minutes from the mountains and beaches, and just 25 minutes north of Disneyland and adjacent attractions. It has an extension campus located in Christiansburg, Virginia called LPU-VA.

The Provost-Vice President for Academic Affairs will be a key partner in moving the University forward. The Provost /Vice President of Academic Affairs is a transformational change agent and must possess a deep commitment to quality educational practices and student learning, biblical integration in higher education, the values and doctrines of the Foursquare Church, participatory governance, academic freedom and responsibility, and a value for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Christian context. This role requires creatively leading and managing innovation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of both traditional and non-traditional curricular offerings. The Provost facilitates the work and coordination of academics, including budget oversight, interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication, training and supervision of managers and faculty, and personnel development. The Provost reports to the President.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides motivational and inspiration leadership to move the University forward in partnership and collaboration with the President.
Promotes faculty and staff morale by modeling good interpersonal relationships, scholarship and by implementing sound educational practices.
Serves on President’s Cabinet and Administrative Council and ex-officio member of all faculty committees except the Faculty Forum, and in other committees as needed.
Leads all Academic Departments, the Deans of the Colleges, and the Library.
Oversees course preparation ensuring updated and quality courses relevant to student needs.
Strengthens the University’s relationships with constituents, businesses, ministry networks through new programs and increased enrollment.
Assesses the job market and industry for trends and adapts quickly through new program development and launch.
Engages in long- and short- range institutional and budgetary planning.
Participates, encourages, and supports research, grant-writing, publishing, and other scholarly activities of the faculty.
Prepares and present reports for the University’s Board of Trustees regarding the faculty and academic programs.
Oversees the completion of all government and accreditation reports IPEDS, WSCUC, ABHE, BPPE etc.
Informs the President, Cabinet, Administrative Council, and Board of Trustees concerning Faculty, Academic Department, and Student Development department concerns and recommendations.
Advances the University by promoting the University at professional meetings and with the Foursquare Church as related to the responsibilities of the office.
Supervises the preparation of the academic calendar, faculty handbook, Supervises the development of semester class schedules.
Works effectively and collaboratively with other departments to plan for and recommend suitable instructional facilities, equipment and supplies.
Oversees accreditation issues; academic policy; course and curriculum preparation; faculty hiring, development, morale, and workload; faculty and educational effectiveness; course scheduling; and other academic areas.
Oversees personnel and policy decisions for faculty and assigned departments, i.e., recruit; interview; recommend for hire, release, or promotion and advise in the area of salaries.
Carries out or supervises other projects as directed by the President.
Serves as Acting CEO in the case of disability or death of the President.
Terminal degree in an appropriate discipline.
At least 5 years’ experience in higher education administration with a record of increased responsibility.
Advanced leadership skills—ability to supervise, delegate, and track projects to completion while handling interruptions, etc.
Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills.
Demonstrated competency in the classroom.
Computer knowledge/skills: working knowledge of Windows-based computers; quick learner; desirable but not mandatory to know Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher.
Excellent communication and writing ability.
Experienced in budget development, monitoring, and maintenance.
A self-starter, personable, detail-oriented and goal-oriented.
Knowledgeable and experienced in education and educational assessment practices.
Committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff, and the general constituency of the University.
Demonstrated culturally competent communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues
Demonstrated Christian faith consistent with Life Pacific’s Pentecostal/Charismatic and Wesleyan Arminian stance (must be able to sign Life Pacific’s Statement of Faith and align with its position on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity).
Must be willing to be licensed in the Foursquare Church. Considerations will be given if candidate already has licensure in another Pentecostal/Charismatic denomination—Assemblies of God, Church of God, Vineyard, etc.
