The Political Science department, a four-member department with a strong teaching and publication tradition, is announcing a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor. The political science faculty at Whitworth has a common interest in justice and reconciliation—both international and domestic. We are looking for a candidate who will add to our strength in that area.

PRIMARY TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:
Teach an annual seven-course load with a primary focus on International Relations. Ability to teach in our interdisciplinary Environmental Studies program is required. The ability to teach in the Peace Studies program is strongly preferred; ability to teach in a regional area that complements current department offerings is also welcomed. The full-time teaching load consists of three courses in the fall, three courses in the spring and a course in January-term. The position is open at the assistant level; however, in an exceptional circumstance a candidate could be hired at the associate level. Whitworth has well-established off-campus study programs and the department welcomes applications from candidates eager to participate in these.
Additional opportunities include participation in departmental activities and governance; professional and research activities, attending state, regional and national professional association meetings; attending faculty assemblies, development days, and retreat, serving on committees and advising.
PREFERRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, physical limitations, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning
