Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Student Affairs/Student services
The Academic Assistance Coordinator is a part-time position (30 hours per week, 10 months per year) and assists students in learning study skills and strategies and manages the Class Tutoring Program.
Strong ability to create good will with staff, faculty, and students; servant attitude.
Ability to communicate and connect with students.
Ability to work as a team member.
Commitment to the Articles of Faith, Mission, and Objectives of the University; and desires to be a role model for students by demonstrating an active Christian faith in personal example and in work related responsibilities.
Teach study skills and strategies to groups or individual students.
Present workshops on various study skills.
Provide accountability for students.
Provide individual tutoring in some core classes.
Manage class tutoring program.
Meet with assigned students on a regular basis.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum of two years’ experience working with low income, first generation college students or students with disabilities.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel competently.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Minimum of one year’s experience teaching academic learning strategies to college students.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
