Faculty Careers - Other, Faculty Careers - Social Work
Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinguished candidates for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Social Work within the School of Social Sciences, Education & Business. This is a tenure-track position beginning August 2020. Appointment of rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will possess an MSW with at least two years of subsequent practice experience. The PhD or DSW in social work or closely related field is preferred. Candidates with MSW degree only must be willing to further social work education. A strong interest in undergraduate teaching is required, and previous teaching, online course delivery are desired. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk, and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University.
The social work department serves approximately 60 majors. The department has had a baccalaureate level program (either BA or BS) accredited by CSWE since 1980. The department of social work promotes the development of lifelong learners by empowering students to minister the redemptive love of Jesus Christ through social justice within the individual, group and global environments. This mission is accomplished through 1) preparing baccalaureate level social workers to become competent and effective beginning generalist practitioners that includes formal or informal lifelong learning; 2) integrating Christian values with professional social work values to challenge worldviews, personal beliefs, societal constructs; and 3) globalizing students’ perspectives and experiences and sensitizing circles of influence to the issues and experiences of diverse, vulnerable, and often marginalized population groups in an effort to advance social justice. The department is comprised of three full-time faculty members.
