Administrative Assistant, L.A. Film Studies Center
Available September 2019 Part-Time (through December 20th, 2019 with potential to extend) Los Angeles, CA
The LA Film Studies Center (LAFSC) seeks a part-time Administrative Assistant to provide general administrative support to the office of an off-campus study program for college students. As a semester-long, off-campus study program of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), LAFSC brings college students from around the country to Los Angeles for one semester of their undergraduate career to gain a well-rounded yet in-depth understanding of what makes the business of Hollywood run.

Serve as a member of a team of faculty and staff working cooperatively to advance the causes of the program and its mission, including its activities and policies and CCCU-related needs
Attend and contribute to regularly scheduled staff meetings if meetings fall during work hours
Maintain designated office hours
General office duties - answer phones and deliver messages, engage guests, manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries, data entry, maintain cleanliness of kitchen and overall facility, assist with library upkeep and check-ins, occasional errands
Assist in internship administration – mail letters, update Filemaker Pro supervisor database, track time card hours, other duties as assigned
Assist in alumni relations – compose and send weekly Mailchimp e-news, update and maintain alumni database, prep/set up for alumni events as needed, other duties as assigned
Assist in marketing efforts – manage and send hard copy mailings, assist in maintaining LAFSC’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook, other duties as assigned
Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Compensation: $16.50 hourly rate for approximately 18 hours/week
This position requires work from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm Tuesdays and 10:30 am – 5:00 pm Wednesday/Friday (6 paid hours with 30 minute unpaid lunch break). Hours may be adjusted for occasional evening and weekend events.
The position is available September 10th through December 20, 2019 with the potential to extend through mid-May 2020.
Persons applying for the position should:
Have a strong appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and its BestSemester programs
Have exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Have a strong understanding of a variety of computer programs, especially Mailchimp, G-Suite, Filemaker Pro and Mac-based programs.
Have an understanding of how to facilitate and manage organizational social media, including Instagram and Facebook
Have ability to design brochures, programs, and Mailchimp announcements and invitations
Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Possess a positive and helpful attitude
Be detail-oriented, highly organized and flexible
Function well as a member of a team, but also possess the ability to work well independently
Have a desire to serve others gracefully and selflessly

Ability to lift heavy equipment (25 lbs)
