The Communications Project Manager works closely with the Director of Communications to assist in the definition of certain project scopes and objectives; communicates with all relevant stakeholders regarding project details; coordinates internal resources for high quality execution of print design projects; assists in development of detailed project plans to monitor and track progress; ensures that all assigned projects are delivered on-time and within scope. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-centered, deadline-oriented environment with competing demands across departments. This individual must be able to manage and prioritize multiple, ongoing projects while maintaining the highest quality of professionalism and customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages several converging projects with different time frames and deliverables; negotiates with multiple stakeholders; and schedules projects considering resource allocation needs, program priorities, and other constraints.
Assists department leadership with the creation, production, and dissemination of large scale digital and printed publications.
Manages relationships with key clients and assists in long-term strategy of print and digital campaigns, while providing relevant feedback, creative concepts, and project status to graphic and digital design teams.
Oversees projects from conception through implementation, ensuring the timely completion of projects and adherence to established standards.
Troubleshoots based on the needs of the project while ensuring compliance with University brand.
Writes and edits content units for print production.
In addition to being one of the primary account managers for the team, the Communications Project Manager may also assist with tactical assignments as needed and based on ability. This may include graphic design, copywriting/editing, web development and publishing, social media, email marketing, search engine optimization, digital advertising, photography, etc.
Researches and develops solutions to problems or as specified by the functional needs of projects. Manages appropriate project risk, issues, and change management procedures and processes.
Continually seeks methods for automation, efficiency, and security conscious development.
Demonstrates a passion for CCU and for communicating the benefits of a CCU education to external audiences.
Completes special projects or assignments as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree, two years of related work experience, and project management experience preferred.
Effective communication skills; able to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
Highly organized, detail oriented, and deadline focused; strong work ethic — willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Excellent proofreading, editing, and writing skills.
Able to contribute to a positive, creative team environment: proactively and constructively communicate suggestions and ideas; accept and give direction easily, and assist other team members.
Strong commitment to service, quality, and excellence.
Strong research and analysis skills.
Knowledge of competitive environment, recruiting trends, and audiences.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of HTML and web programming tools, and graphics tools including Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
Nature of Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. This may involve some lifting, carrying, moving, pushing, and/or pulling of objects/materials of lightweight (15-20 pounds). Work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Occasional local and regional travel may be expected. Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
