This Consultant role will primarily support searches in the education sector, with a special focus on higher education. With record growth over the past five years, we are looking for a Search Consultant who will contribute to the further development of the business and make us even better at what we do. Working as part of a search execution team that includes a partner, researcher, and administrative search coordinator, the Search Consultant will:
• Lead and drive assigned searches, taking ownership and responsibility for executing them to completion • Collaborate with the search team to develop and direct customized strategies to identify, evaluate, and place candidates • Consult frequently with the partner and the researcher to maintain high, productive pace and project alignment that deliver great client and candidate outcomes • Write compelling, detailed position descriptions that generate interest in CarterBaldwin searches with passive candidates • Develop and deliver a strong, differentiated narrative that brings passive candidates to the table • Lead outreach and engagement efforts with candidates through the life cycle of the search, including outbound recruiting calls to passive candidates, persuasive presentation of the opportunity, and shepherding qualified/aligned candidates throughout the search process • Interview and thoroughly assess prospective candidates against position specifications and cultural alignment • Create and manage all relevant search documentation including candidate updates, project reports, and candidate summaries that provides ongoing clarity and direction to the search and transparency with clients, candidates, and the internal search team • Actively contribute to a fast-paced, high activity and performance environment

The successful candidate will be ambitious, action-oriented, and possess the ability to be both strategic and focused on tasks and details. Given the variety of engagements to which a Search Consultant will contribute, prospective candidates must demonstrate:
• Strong organizational acumen that is applied to influence, lead, and complete C-level searches across broad functional areas and industries • Project management skills that include setting project priorities and agendas, driving results, working well within a team, and delegating tasks effectively • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present thoughtful, persuasive and accurate information to internal and external constituents • Strong multi-tasking abilities with attention to detail and efficiency • Strong time management skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances • Versatility and adaptability to a changing environment with the ability to quickly think and respond on your feet • Exceptional interpersonal skills that can be effectively conveyed both in-person and over the phone • A strong desire to contribute and make an impact within a team-based, service-driven culture
• An undergraduate degree is required. Strong preference for a terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent). • Experience working in the higher education arena – as a faculty member, administrator, teacher or board member. • Experience confidently and proactively building and managing relationships with senior leaders/executives • Strong sense of curiosity and an ability to ask questions thoughtfully and thoroughly • Strong team player and a willingness to proactively share information, insights, and opinions • Proficiency with project management and time management in a complex, often changing environment
