Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Other, Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Provosts/Vice Presidents
The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the administrative officer charged with the administration and supervision of all academic affairs and reports directly to the President. He/she is a member of the President’s Cabinet and is charged with curriculum development and supervision of instruction.
Directing the academic activities of the college including the Library, Registrar, Information Technology, Spiritual Formation, Institutional Effectiveness, and ancillary departments as assigned.
Act as advisor to the President in matters of college policy particularly in academic affairs.
Assume leadership in formulation of educational policies and to present them to the President, Cabinet, and faculty for consideration.
Direct the attention of the faculty to changing educational thought and practice, particularly as they affect higher educational thought and practice for the college.
Transmit to the Vice President for Finance the budget recommendations for academic activities after details have been worked out with school directors.
Supervise and direct institutional research, particularly in curricula, courses and methods of instruction, and to stimulate instructors to reach their potential.
Serve as a liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges Commission on Colleges and assure the college remains in compliance with all requirements.
Cooperate with school directors in the nomination of new members for the teaching staff and to make suggestions to the President regarding the promotion, demotion, and separation of members of the faculty.
Must interact with and prepare reports for the College Board of Trustees.
Represent the college at meetings of educational associations.
Serve as ex officio member of all standing faculty committees.
Serve as secretary of the Toccoa Falls College Corporation.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Three or more years of experience serving at the level of Dean or higher.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Judgment & Decision Making – considering the relative costs and benefits of actions.
Financial Resources Management – Determining how to effectively spend money, and accounting for these expenditures.
Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Communication – outstanding verbal and written communication, adept at public speaking.
Spiritually mature Christian and currently a member of an evangelical church.
Experience in team building and human resource management.
Proficiency in computer software programs, primarily spreadsheets.
Must be more than a thinker: must be a doer.

Toccoa Falls College is located in the foothills of the northeast Georgia mountains, 95 miles north of Atlanta, GA and 65 miles south of Greenville, SC. The campus is situated on 1,100 beautiful acres and includes a 186’ high waterfall.
