Associate Pastor of Worship & Discipleship Maple Plain Community Church
The Worship & Discipleship Pastor is responsible for providing leadership to the worship and music ministries of the church, and oversight to the discipleship ministries of the church. The Worship & Discipleship Pastor shall work under the direction of, and be responsible to, the Senior Pastor and Elders.
Our ideal Worship & Discipleship Pastor candidate is someone:
- With an appreciation for multiple styles of music and an ability to incorporate each style appropriately in worship
- Who values people over performance, and leads through the formation of relationships
- Who has a heart to teach, disciple, and encourage believers toward growth and maturity in Christ
- Who is a passionate team-player ready to share ideas and interests with a growing body of believers
Duties and Responsibilities (Worship Ministry)
In conjunction with Senior Pastor or other officiating pastors, plan worship services for Sunday mornings (and holidays as necessary).
Lead music (or in some cases, delegate leadership) instrumentally and vocally in worship services.
Plan and execute rehearsals for worship ministry.
Coordinate special music programs (e.g., Easter, Christmas, Youth, Children, Students) as appropriate and with the assistance of volunteers.
Recruit new members to the Worship Team, Audio-Visual Team, and other volunteer support staff.
Encourage the appropriate purposing of gifts within the church body as it pertains to special music, soloists, ad hoc ensembles, etc.
Oversee and maintain technical equipment and musical instruments
Duties and Responsibilities (Discipleship Ministry)
Provide oversight of the discipleship/outreach ministries of the church. (Small groups, Bible studies, LIFE groups, etc.)
Identify, enlist, train, and encourage leadership in discipleship and outreach ministries.
Assist with curriculum development or selection for various discipleship ministries.
Work with the Senior Pastor to occasionally fulfill preaching responsibilities for Sunday worship service (6-8 times per year or as comfort/interest allows).
Duties and Responsibilities (Staff Pastor)
Administrative plans, announcements, budget needs, and other necessary information to be communicated to the church staff and congregation in a timely fashion.
Participate in weekly staff meetings (as needed), and regular Elder and congregational meetings with written reports.
Actively engage as a member of the church; Develop and maintain wholesome pastoral relationships with all members of the church.
Actively participate with the church staff and leaders to accomplish and encourage the vision and goals of the church.
Prepare and oversee worship and discipleship budgets.
Perform other duties as may, from time-to-time, be determined necessary and appropriate to the position of Worship & Discipleship Pastor.
-A Christian believer; someone with a clear testimony of their Christian faith, an understanding of their call to Christian ministry, and living a lifestyle in agreement with our statement of faith
-Instrumental and vocal proficiency
-Previous church experience of 3-5 years preferred
-Bachelor's Degree in associated field preferred
-Licensure/Ordination or willingness to pursue
-A working understanding of audio-visual equipment (live audio technology, media presentation software, etc)
