CCCU institutions are located around the world. Though they are diverse in size, scope, and mission, they are each committed to faith-integrated higher education.
Professors in the department of theology serve to instruct students in the majors of the department as well as students in other majors of the College of Theology and Ministry through the college’s core curriculum. Professors also contribute to the general education curriculum of the university in the delivery of graduation-requirement courses, and to the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry in graduate instruction.
Essential Job Duties
• Teach an average minimum of 12 credit hours per semester • Advise students in academic pursuits • Assist in the evaluation and development of curricula • Serve on committees as assigned • Maintain office hours • Ensure positive learning environment for students • Comply with University guidelines regarding faculty duties and requirements • Participate in academic processions and wear academic regalia as required • Contribute to monthly college faculty meetings • Contribute to periodic university-wide recruitment events outside regular business hours • Set an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University’s Principles and Expectations • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility None
Required • Ph.D. in the relevant field (biblical studies, theology, church history) • Demonstrated ability in undergraduate classroom instruction • Must be Southern Baptist • Affirmation of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 Preferred • M. Div. • Professional ministry experience • Ability to work with students of various denominational backgrounds
• Works with undergraduate and graduate students, both in and out of the classroom • Works with faculty colleagues in the College of Theology and Ministry and in other colleges of the university • Works with university administration across campus as needed • Works in a general office and classroom setting with some noise and equipment
• Frequently educates students in a classroom setting and is able to communicate accurate information and ideas in these situations. • Occasionally moves about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
