Simpson University, School of Nursing, seeks a highly motivated and energetic candidate to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Nursing. The University is seeking a professional who shares our excitement for teaching and learning in a student-centered, interactive “laboratory learning” environment. Moreover, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in and refine the School of Nursing, four-year Baccalaureate program. As a full-time faculty member in the School of Nursing, the successful candidate will teach didactic and clinical components of the curriculum as well as serve as an academic advisor, participate in student recruitment and orientation activities, and offer expertise as a School of Nursing representative on University committees. As nursing is a professional discipline with programmatic and accreditation requirements, the successful candidate will participate in School of Nursing curriculum development and program evaluation as well as engage in ongoing professional development, research, and scholarship.
Full-time Faculty Teaching assignments are available throughout the four-year Baccalaureate program and the RN to BSN program. Expertise related to curriculum areas of need includes medical-surgical didactic and clinical content. The successful candidate will be creative with teaching strategies in the classroom, clinical and simulation center consistent with the School of Nursing’s curriculum, which emphasizes participatory teaching methodology including experiential, peer-to-peer learning, research, and active engagement in didactic and clinical courses.
The University Located in the town of Redding, surrounded by mountains on three sides, in beautiful Northern California, students enjoy excellent views of Lassen Peak, an active volcanic area, and Mt. Shasta, the second-tallest peak in the Cascade Range with its elevation of 14,179 feet. Simpson University is a private, Christian, four-year, liberal arts university including professional studies.
Qualifications A Master of Science degree in Nursing and eligibility for licensure to practice in the state of California are required. Candidates with teaching or presentation abilities, competency in program evaluation, and additional certification in a nursing specialty and/or an appropriate terminal degree will be given preference.
