The Department of Nursing in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah College invites applications for a full-time/term-tenure track or clinical track nursing faculty position to teach courses in the baccalaureate and doctoral nursing programs. The primary focus of this position will be in pediatric and obstetric/women's health nursing courses for both the face-to-face undergraduate BSN program and the online post-BSN to FNP/DNP program. Other courses may include DNP courses related to scholarly project implementation.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate nursing courses in the pediatric and obstetric specialty as follows: Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family, and Nursing Care of Infants, Children, and Adolescents. Teach graduate level courses in the online Family Nurse Practitioner/DNP program to include Advanced Physical Assessment of Children and Adolescents; Advanced Family Nursing Practice of Children and Adolescents; Advanced Family Nursing Practice for Women's Health; Principles of Care in Advanced Family Nursing Practice; and, potentially, DNP scholarly project courses: Advanced Nursing Practice Leadership Role Integration – DNP Project; Integration of Evidence-based Practice Across Healthcare Settings – DNP Project.
Faculty will have advising and institutional service responsibilities as well as continuing in their own scholarship. Ongoing clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner commensurate with the PA State Board of Nursing Code is required.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree and current licensure/certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania are required. Current, relevant clinical practice required. Previous college teaching experience required and online teaching experience preferred. Candidate should have a commitment to excellence in teaching in a Christian liberal arts setting and to ongoing scholarship, service, and practice in nursing.
The Program: Messiah College's Department of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate degrees including:
MSN – Nurse Educator track and Nursing Administration track
Post baccalaureate DNP/FNP
The program enjoys a reputation for high quality classroom and clinical instruction producing well-prepared graduates who are preferred for hire in local and regional health care institutions. The undergraduate and master's programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The DNP/FNP program will undertake initial accreditation in 2020.
The Department: A majority of full-time faculty are doctorally prepared and energetically seek innovative scholarship opportunities in practice and teaching. Simulation laboratories include advanced simulation with medium and high-fidelity human simulators. Students also have opportunities for cross-cultural experiences and development of intercultural competency is encouraged. Faculty are committed to the integration of Christian faith in the practice of the nursing profession.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
