Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Other, Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Safety and Security
The Security Guard is full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Security. The schedule for this position is non-standard. Security guards fill 10-hour shifts which cover 24-hours daily, 365 days/year. This position provides protection for faculty, staff, and students of Colorado Christian University along with their property, and enforces the rules and regulations of the University. In addition, guards provide for the security of University buildings, property, and vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the campus.
Secure and open buildings and classrooms.
Contact fire, medical, and police professionals when emergency situations occur.
Maintain a log of shift activities.
Provide safety escorts for students and employees when requested.
Issue citations for vehicle rule infractions.
Maintain a positive relationship with students, faculty, staff, and coworkers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Be able to communicate effectively in the English language.
Run at least 25 feet without adversely affecting health.
Provide good customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests.
Effectively communicate in person to students, staff, faculty, and guests.
Nature of Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. You will be required to work irregular hours. Overtime may be required.
