General Summary: The Office of Global Engagement provides leadership and services for global experiences for Seattle Pacific's students and faculty, while serving the mission of the university to create opportunities for domestic and international students. The Director of Global Engagement has two primary responsibilities: First, the development, growth, oversight and promotion of high quality, high impact education abroad. And second, the programming that supports and enhances the experience of international students. This position reports to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.We are looking for a strong candidate who exhibits the following interests and skill-sets:
- Provides leadership in the globalization of curriculum and programming; - Knowledgeable in the areas of immigration advising, programming, intercultural communication; - Knowledgeable in the field of education abroad and The Forum on Education Abroad's standards of good practice; - Experience working with faculty to align curriculum to support study abroad; reviewing curriculum of faculty-led programs; - Serves as an institutional advocate for international programs and students.
Job Description: Administrative oversight of International Student Services and the Office of Study Abroad - Oversees and administers international agreements; provides guidance and support to academic units seeking to host international scholars; oversight of the Fulbright Scholars program; provides day-to-day leadership and management for the Office of Global Engagement, which includes two International Student Services (ISS) advisors, a study abroad advisor, and a coordinator of faculty-led programs; budgetary responsibilities for the Office of Global Engagement.
Program administration of International Student Services and the Office of Study Abroad - Develops a strategic plan to increase student and faculty participation in international education; provides leadership for the development of, and oversight for, programs and services to the international student population; responsible for the assessment of all programs served by the Office of Global Engagement; isknowledgeable of the legal landscape and risk management issues associated with international education, both for in-bound and out-bound students.
University leadership tasks - Collaborates and champions the development of initiatives to encourage global literacy, global awareness, global competency and intercultural competencies of students, faculty and staff; lead and serve on taskforces and committees that focus on internationalization, success of international students and opportunities for the development of high impact practices.
Requirements: Required Qualifications - Master's degree or higher in a related field. - Ability to travel internationally. - At least five years' experience in a related field. - Experience working in higher education, specifically direct experience with undergraduate students. - Experience working, traveling and/or living abroad with professional knowledge of working within a culturally diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications - An earned doctorate in international education or a related discipline is preferred. - At least seven years administrative experience in higher education, preferably in the area of international student services and/or education abroad; experience with managing staff and students. - Written and verbal fluency in a second language. - Experience in the development and support of institutional partnerships (MOU/MOA). - Participation in and knowledge of professional organizations related to the field (e.g. Forum for Education Abroad, NAFSA, AIEA). - Experience usingArgos, Tableau, and other budget management tools. Experience withSEVIS and TerraDotta for international student services and study abroad.
