The Director for Off Campus Library Services is responsible for administration and oversight of the department of Off Campus Library Services and library instruction to all regions and adult programs.
Reports to the Vice President Regional Education & External Relations
Graduate degree required from an ALA accredited library and information science program. Second masters or doctoral degree desired.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and lead all faculty librarians assigned to Off Campus Library Services (OCLS) and the Associate OCLS staff position.
Represent OCLS at any university, National & Global committees, as needed.
Work with the academic unites to develop curriculum appropriate for the IWU library.
Oversee and provide library instruction to all regions and adult programs.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation of all staff, both professional and staff level for OCLS at all locations.
Creation, oversight, management and responsibility for the OCLS budget.
Manage the copyright issues related to the university as a whole and especially to the academic units that OCLS has responsibility.
Provide on call availability on Saturdays (OCLS 800#) and any other time as needed.
Travel to regional campuses where OCLS librarians and/or services are working.
Oversee and responsible for collection development for the library relevant to all programs supported by OCLS, including books, media and electronic resources for all locations.
Visioning for future direction of Off Campus Library Services to meet the expanding distance and global initiatives of the university.
Work in collaboration with course writers, instructional designers, program development directors to provide access to needed library.
Travel to regional locations where librarians are working.
Available to Marion staff, regional staff, faculty, and students on an on call basis, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Experience in providing professional reference service in an academic setting using emerging web-based and traditional reference technologies
Demonstrated ability to creatively lead a geographically separated team
Demonstration of excellent communication and teaching skills for adult students
Demonstration of a strong commitment to public services
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Ability to travel by personal automobile for off-campus teaching and campus visits
Candidate must demonstrate a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and willingly sign a statement of faith in the Wesleyan traditions.
Seeking individuals who will work with diverse clientele, stakeholders and colleagues
Strong understanding of computer hardware/software used to distribute information electronically
Experience with providing library services for distance learning
Specific professional reference experience with nursing, business, religion, and/or education
Experience with multimedia or network-based authoring applications for development of instructional materials
