Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinguished candidates to teach in the Education Department. This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2019. Required is an expert practitioner with extensive experience teaching emergent literacy, diagnostic reading, or literacy coaching in the elementary classroom. An Earned doctorate in the field of emergent literacy, special education, or related field is preferred. ABD and MA will be considered. Evidence of significant effective teaching experience and strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. Licensure in special education, experience with urban education, previous teaching in higher education, effective course delivery (including online), and educational administration experience are desired. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk, and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University.
The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and outstanding organizational skills. Expertise must be demonstrated in emergent literacy, diagnostic reading and assessment, elementary pedagogy, and diverse teaching strategies while being qualified to teach a range of education courses, primarily for elementary education majors, with the potential for administrative duties. Chapel attendance, faculty governance responsibilities, practicum supervision, professional service, scholarly activity, and student advising are also expected. The Education Department is composed of ten members and is accredited by NCATE/CAEP and the Indiana Department of Education. Undergraduate Teacher Education candidates may obtain licensure in: All-grade (P-12) Art and Music Education, K-6 Elementary Education, and Secondary Education (grades 5-12) is offered in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Physics, Physics/Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Additional licensure offerings include Mild Intervention and Teaching English as a Second Language.
