The Department of Natural, Health, and Mathematical Sciences at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) in Olathe, Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology. Candidates should possess ability and desire to teach a wide range of courses with preference given to candidates qualified to teach in the area of health and exercise science.

Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement and research, as well as service to the college and community. Faculty at MNU are responsible for student advising, committee work, participation in departmental and college service activities, and engagement in professional development activities. Knowledge and use of educational technologies and on-line teaching is expected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach a semester course load of 12 credit hours as assigned by the Department Chair.
Participate in service to the department, college, and university.
Advise students in their academic course selections as well as their needs for transition into a career or graduate school.
Assist with recruitment and retention of students
Contribute to departmental duties such as assessment of the major/concentrations, laboratory needs, and outreach programs.
Maintain currency in the academic field through appropriate participation in conferences, professional associations, and/or research endeavors
Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean
Support the mission of MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Educational Qualifications/Skills Required:
M.S. or equivalent in kinesiology, health or a closely related discipline. Terminal degree (EdD, PhD) preferred.
Minimum two years of successful college teaching experience with supporting evidence.
Commitment to excellence in teaching, student-centered learning/teaching methods, and assessment
Professional work experience in a health-related field (athletic training, exercise physiology, health education/promotion, sport performance, healthcare administration, etc.).
Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and set priorities.
Possess strong oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet the challenges of undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.
