Friends University seeks a strategic and dynamic Associate Vice President for University Advancement with a strong record of fundraising leadership and achievement. Reporting to and partnering with the President of Friends University, the Associate Vice President for University Advancement will be a strategic and valued fundraising and program builder. The successful candidate will be an engaging collaborator who will establish productive working relationships with the President, Senior Leadership, and members of the Board of Trustees as well as deans, faculty and staff. The Associate Vice President will create and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to advance the university’s vision and strategic plan. The advancement function includes responsibility for annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, capital campaigns, alumni and constituent relations efforts, advancement services. The successful candidate will build a high-performing development program and will oversee and develop an advancement team that will focus on increasing philanthropic revenue through corporate, foundation, and individual giving.
The Associate Vice President for University Advancement will personally identify, cultivate, close and steward gifts. They will also engage university colleges, schools, programs and enhance the culture of philanthropy by maintaining collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, coaches, and campus departments whose cooperation is essential to effective outreach and fund raising. The Associate Vice President for University Advancement will serve as an exemplary university advocate in the community, with local leaders, media representatives, religious organizations, as well as business and corporate partnerships.

Understanding of the mission and values of Friends University and the ability to effectively support and communicate them, especially to external audiences.
Five to ten years of progressively successful development experience with a track record of building comprehensive fundraising programs and plans that achieve results. Consideration will be given to professionals with a background in public relations.
Knowledge of best practices in fund development and marketing with the ability to apply them in innovative ways.
Success identifying and securing individual and foundation support.
Strong supervisory experience that demonstrates the ability to lead, coach, and develop staff.
Master’s degree required.
Proven involvement in the Wichita community preferred.
