Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty member to teach translation and interpretation in the Spanish program beginning in Fall 2019. This position is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor and reports to the Chair of the Division of Christian and Liberal Studies. The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in Spanish or a related field, although applicants who hold a Master’s degree and have significant academic and/or professional experience in translation and interpretation will also be considered. The successful applicant will teach grammar, composition, conversation, translation, and interpretation. Teaching methodology or pedagogy is not expected but would be considered beneficial.

The successful candidate will hold, at a minimum, a Master’s degree in Spanish with significant academic and/or professional experience.
The university prefers to hire a candidate who holds a doctoral degree in Spanish or a closely related field. Preference may also be given to a specialist in translation and interpretation.
Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
